AD2Pi (Serial) + Home Assistant Problems

Postby goyney » Sun Dec 10, 2017 7:39 pm

I'm running the AD2Pi with Home Assistant interacting with it. I have been fighting with it for almost 6 months; I cannot keep a reliable connection. The Home Assistant community doesn't seem interested in helping solve the problem and I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the whole situation. I'm hoping maybe somebody here can help shed some new light on my issue and maybe lead me to a resolution.

Basically, randomly, the serial connection to the AD2Pi is just lost and never reconnected to, thus making the alarm status and controls unresponsive until I reboot Home Assistant. I'm not sure if it is a Home Assistant problem, a problem with the hardware, or a problem with the Alarm Decoder python dependency.

You can see my forum post with Home Assistant here: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/a ... days/18277

Any insights at all would be most helpful. Thank you!

An easy way to rule out the serial itself disconnecting is to connect to it directly from the terminal, and see if over 24hour time period it disconnects or not.

Using ser2sock, I woke up to a disconnected device this morning. I had to restart ser2sock to reestablish a connection.

Is there a way using ser2sock to have it auto-reconnect?

Well, that still doesn't rule out the device itself... please connect directly to it with a terminal program, not ser2sock

You can add a cron task to restart ser2sock or something like that
