Problem w/ AlarmApp Keypad sending but receiving is working

Postby jb170 » Thu Jan 22, 2015 5:50 pm

I get an error in the device test 'send' but 'receive' is okay. Status messages are getting out successfully, see second screenshot. Error says check wiring or address but thinking that if I'm receiving okay, that the wiring and address is okay. (see screenshot attached).

I'm using address '5.' The other keypads on my system are addresses 1, 2 and 4. The keypad screen shows the correct keypad message but I can't enter codes in the keypad app.

Any other things I can check?

BTW --- on the email notification, I'm using gmail smtp server and authenticating with my gmail id and password. Therefore the emails are coming from me --- the 'from email' field in the configuration seems irrelevant. I ended up sending to XXX-XXX-XXXX@vtext.com to send the notifications to my phone sms.

On addressable systems, the AlarmDecoder can always see panel messages. If you are having trouble sending commands to the panel, make sure that you have enabled the address of the keypad in your panel's programming.

And yes, in that instance, the from is pretty irrelevant. It would apply to other systems, including the built-in system on the PI - which can only be used currently if port 25 is not filtered by your ISP - thus you are forced to use an external system, such as gmail.

Thanks, Kevin. I programmed my alarm board to accept a new addressable keyboard -- I used 6 as the address --- once I configured 6 as the address in the keypad app, the device setup check completed successfully and the keyboard now successfuly arms and disarms the system. Thanks again for the help.
