Set up

Postby Ronb » Tue Sep 02, 2014 2:58 pm

I just set up my Ad2USB and everything shows ok. From the alarm decoder GUI. It shows that it is receiving information from the alarm panel, but I can not send anything to it. My panel is a Vista 128BP. The person that helped me set up the panel is no longer in business and i can't find him. I do have the installers code to get in. I have 2 keypads in my home. I have looked online as to how to find out what address the keypads are. What I found was pushing 1 and 3 together at the same time would show me what they are, but all I see is one is on 00 and the other is 01.and I don't know how that translates to 16,17,or 18 and if it does how do you change it ?
So I don't know if there is a conflict with that or not. As I said the logs are showing incoming information from the panel with the preset address of 18 on the AD2USB
Can Someone help me ?
Thanks

You will just need to enable address 18 on your panel as the keypads you currently have are indeed not at these addresses. We have instructions for doing this in our Documentation under the FAQ here: http://www.alarmdecoder.com/wiki/index. ... figuration

Kevin
Thanks for getting back to me so fast.
I had to go online to find the programing manual for the vista 128bp because that company a and e security didn't have that one.

When I use the installers code and then go to field *190 the keypad comes up with " voice module phone code " and that says -20 I don't know what that means. I don't think that is the right place to change the keypad address. If the 2 keypads are on 00 and 01 wouldn't that be right anyway ? because it says that the Ad2USB needs to be on it's own address of 18 ? That is pre configured on the AD2USB. If not do you know how to change the keypad address of my keypads ?

Thanks

The AD2USB is configured for address 18, and the panel needs to know to listen on this address so you have to tell it to by enabling the keypad in one of the keypad fields for the proper address.

You can always change the address of the AD2USB, but it is better to enable a new keypad to keep your existing infrastructure in place

Please look at page 32 in the 128BP programming manual found here: http://ftp3.syscom.mx/usuarios/yhermosi ... 0Guide.pdf

The device type is an Alpha Keypad and it is not an AUI

From what I gather, you will enter your installer code + #93, answer 0 until you get to the device programming, and follow what's on page 32! :)

Hi Kevin,

I have been working on this in my spare time and I still have not got it to work. This is what I have done.

I followed what you last told me.

I went in to the keypad with installers code. Then used #93
Then I went to Device Program used * for yes move through to I believe it was device address /
Then Device address ( that gives you the options of 1-30 ) flashing 01 on that keypad * for yes Partition 1 * for yes
Then keypad global ? not sure what to press here so I went with * for yes ( I did try no the second time and then tried to put in 16 and * for yes then that comes back as " Device not in use "

Another time I tried to just use the ad2usb on the computer the way my panel is already and on the Alarm decoder GUI when I look at the logs it shows that it is receiving information but it will not let me put it in stay/away/ or whatever. it does show that it is sending. I will try to attach 3 screen shots of the logs here for you to see.

sadly I don't even think tis is the hardest pat. If I can make it through this part the next part is going to be hooking this up to Mi casa verde ( vera ) That is really going to be the hardest part.

Thanks

Ron

If you are able to setup remote access via TeamViewer, you can purchase time from our store for us to program the alarm panel for you for $50.

I think there's a miscommunication between us here with the programming. You are trying to enable a new address on the panel, not configure an existing address of existing keypads.

And FYI, this is absolutely the hardest part of the process.

So I'm going to try and step-by-step the programming here.

Installer Code to installer mode, then do a #93

Press 0 (zero) until "DEVICE PROG?" appears on the keypad
Press 1 to enter Device Programming
You will then see "DEVICE ADDRESS"
Enter 18*
You will then see "DEVICE TYPE"
Enter 01*
You will then see 01 CONSOLE PART.
Enter 01*
You will then see 01 SOUND OPTION
Enter 00*
You will then see 01 KEYPAD GLBL?
Enter 0*
You will then see 01 AUI?
Enter 0*

Then exit programming mode (I think *99)

Hi Kevin,

I would have gone the teamviewer route. I have no problem paying the $ 50.00, but after you gave me those detailed instructions. I decided to give it another try. I was able to get going, and I was able to get it hooked to vera also.

There was a little delay in getting the zones to update in vera, but I changed TTL to 34 ( the amount of zones that I have ) and that made the update to about a 30 seconds.

I guess the only thing I would have liked more would have been the ability to set the alarm to instant in vera, but that part it not Alarm Decoder's doing that is a MI Casa Verde thing.

I really like this.

Thank you so much for all your help.
