Getting a DSC panel to work with AD2USB

Postby ICharters » Tue Sep 02, 2014 7:33 pm

Can anyone point me in the right direction for getting the AD2USB to work with a DSC panel? Also, I see that the 832 series is supported in the beta firmware, but it doesn't mention the newer 1832 series. I assume the protocol is the same or very similar considering that newer 550x keypads work with older panels.

All you have to do is wire it up correctly, DO to G, DI to Y, + to R, - to B and configure the device to be DSC instead of Ademco in the device configuration

Beta firmware only http://www.alarmdecoder.com/wiki/index.php/Firmware

The AD keypad app is logging all of the information coming from the panel, but it doesn't seem to be able to send keystrokes to it. Is this functionality that just doesn't exist yet? It doesn't want to recognize itself as a keybus device when you try and 902 / 903 in programming. As far as I know, that shouldn't actually stop it from issuing commands to the board if it overlaps another keypad with the same address, though (at least with DSC).

Does sending keys through the device from putty work?

Putty doesn't actually prompt me, but when I enter numbers in nothing happens. I can see the keypad status messages scrolling down continuously, though.

While in putty, can you go ahead and issue an @48 and hit enter

Then with @48 enabled, go ahead and hit some keypresses

Please take that output as well as the output from your ad2usb configuration and email it in a file to ad2usb@support.nutech.com

Then enter @00 and hit enter to exit this mode

This will help us debug why you can't send keypresses
