Windows 7 Ad2usb v2.2.6 Vista 20p branded ADT safewatch , Address is set to 18, I have the installer code, My 6160 keypad is functional and I can communicate with ad2usb through putty and upload configurations through the Gui.
My issue is trying to use the actual keypad emulator. I may be missing something simple but when I depress the numbers on the virtual keypad I get no response, and I want to program the panel through the computer using the gui and eventually batch program it and save the programming. But I guess the first step would be getting the virtual keypad to work.. I searched the forums and Googled, not finding an answer to this. My only issue with the Vista20p panel itself is low system back up battery.

Hi David,
You're seeing panel messages so that's a good sign.
Not being able to send keypresses usually indicates an issue with the keypad address. You can confirm communication with the panel by clicking on 'Custom Command' in the log window and sending an asterisk. You should see a message starting with !Sending to indicate the key is being sent to the panel. The number of dots between Sending and done indicates how long it took to send, and if you had 5 of them, there was a timeout and you likely need to configure a keypad at that address on your panel.

The response to custom commands are immediate, I added a screenshot. Added information of set-up I have tried this with 2 Seperate Pc's and in troubleshooting I have reset the panel to factory defaults in case it was due to an address issue. It is not mounted, I am bench programming it before I mount it and install the sensors, throughout the house. In my next step I will remove the 6160 see if that does anything and report back... Thanks for the response Scott

Removing 6160 keypad did not help, check the installed modules on the GUI. I have Example v1.0, Keypad v1.0, and MyStuff v1.0. In serial & socket configuration I only have the serial socket enabled to Com4. Is there any settings I should look at in the device manager such as parity and flow control

Did you confirm that you were able to arm and disarm the alarm through the PuTTy session? If you aren't, it sounds almost that the alarm panel itself is not listening to the address the AlarmDecoder device is communicating on. Instructions for this can be found in our Documentation under Getting Started in the instructional videos

Hay David.
Not sure what the problem is but from the logs it looks like everything is working. I would like it if you could call me today at 503 443 2000 and select customer service option. I will have you do a few tests to find out what is going on over the phone.

Thank You Kevin, Scott and Mathewss, but after reading Kevin's post I tested arming on through putty and it did not work, I decided to remove my 6160 keyboard and change the address to 16 on the ad2usb. It now works, Now I have to investigate why address 18 on the panel is not holding after programming. My mistake but I am very thankful.
