Download Vista 20p Configuration

Postby mrwildbob » Fri Jul 25, 2014 1:39 pm

Hello, I got my RPi & ad2usb communicating. Installed the AlarmDecoder Keypad and able to control the alarm. I am very impressed! I can not seem to figure out how to download my Vista 20p configuration. Do I need to install a module? If so, where do I get it?

thanx

You will need to download and install our Keypad Software for PC (Windows/Mac/Linux) from here: http://www.alarmdecoder.com/wiki/index. ... der_Keypad

You will then configure it to talk to the ser2sock port on your ad2pi port 10000

You can purchase the programming downloader module from our online store - install the module in the Keypad Software once you have purchased and downloaded it, and then you can have it go through and then save your configuration

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello Kevin,

Thanks for the info. I will purchase the module in a couple days. I would like to download the configuration of my current panel for backup. Is it safe to assume that I can make changes then upload back to the panel?

I really like all the work you guys have done with this software. Keep up the great work!

The module does not allow for uploading back to the panel, just allows you to back up your configuration. However, knowing all the fields and values and having them right in front of your face sure does make it easier to program from scratch.

Is there any plan to make an upload possible or an option in the future?

Upload has been on our TODO list for a while, but there's a lot of subtle menu differences between panels and manufacturers. We only have a limited number of test panels in our office, so it's been made rather low priority.

That is understandable. I appreciate the information and the time the team puts into this project. I am willing to contribute by testing on my end and report my findings.

Thank you

After downloading the panel configuration, is there a utility to view the config? Is there a way to dump the config to a txt file with out the tags?

The configuration is viewable within the AlarmDecoder keypad application, or via the generated xml file - currently those are the only formats it is shown.

Here is a site that coverts it to Excel. It's free for small files. I uploaded the xxxxxx.config file and it gave me a nice Excel file that you can really read.
