Using AD2USB for Home Automation via X10

Postby patrickm » Tue Jul 15, 2014 12:55 pm

I have been looking for a way to use existing alarm devices (sensors) to drive a home automation system.

X10 is flakey, and not especially secure. This product seems like it would make it easy to see events (or I think they are called Faults) on an alarm system and pull them into a home automation system. I starting going down the route of a W800, but I just stop using X10 sensors all together.

If this is the case, and I really don't care at all about the alarm functionality, what would someone suggest what I would need minimally to allow me to use existing alarm sensors/hardware to drive home automation. ..

I know nothing about alarm hardware, but I do understand X10 PLMs and Linux pretty well.

I see great review on this product, both on amazon and other boards.

I briefly discussed this with Sean and he mentioned the 15P being the sweet spot for price and features.

Thanks,
