ESP32 Proto Board

Postby davidw963 » Wed Dec 15, 2021 10:01 am

Hey All,

Looking to connect my AD2pHAT to my ESP32 and looking at the vatious proto boards out there. I am not fond of using a breadboard at this time, and I don't think Sean has the custom PCB for sale - so was looking to see if anyone had success with a pi zero proto board (which would be ideal size wise), or if I should just stick with a regular pi3 proto board with the GIPO header. Cheers!

Update -

I have found a universal proto board from Sequent Microsystems that is pretty flexible, but you will be doing a bit of soldering. I have attached the socket pins and so far seems to be a nice package - though not as clean as the custom board from AlarmDecoder. However, it will fit directly into an existing rpi case if you happen to have a spare one kicking around.

Anyhow, due to a slip of my mind I have an Ad2pi, not an AD2pHAT. Is the Ad2pi still useable with the ESP32 appliance or do I have to migrate to an full AD2pHAT?

Cheers

It looks like you can use an existing AD2Pi as the alarm panel interface for the ESP32. Use the ad2source option "S" (for socket vs. "C" for com port) along with the IP address and port number for the ser2sock server on the pi. I just brought up my ESP32 today and I'm having some other difficulties, but it is talking to, and getting status from my AD2Pi.
