failed to install gtk#

Postby kparris » Fri Nov 21, 2014 2:43 pm

I downloaded the virtual keypad AlarmDecoderAp_Windows_2_0_10.exe and when I run the installer it gives the "failed to install gtk#" error with no further explanation, error code, reason. This is on Windows XP.

When I open a Hyperterminal session to COM6 for the ad2usb device, I see messages coming from the Vista panel, at the moment for example "System Lo Bat" is repeating regularly, so the hardware seems to be working OK, but nothing I type in the terminal window has any effect.

So I have two questions, the most important is: how to diagnose the gtk install failure?

The other is: what am I doing wrong with Hyperterminal?

Thanks for your assistance!

You will need to find an installer for GTK# that works on Windows XP. Since Windows XP has been end of lifed and end of support from Microsoft, we do not recommend using it.

If you are using hyperterminal and cannot talk to your alarm panel - please make sure that an address on the panel is available and the ad2 device (through configuration mode by sending it a ! character) is set to that address.

To get GTK# to install, you can try running the GTK# .msi manually from your hard drive in the alarmdecoder package.. if this doesn't work let me know thanks.

Installing the gtk msi manually worked. VirtualKeypad is working now. Thanks for the help!
