Vista 20P Expansion Panel 4229 errors

Postby JEF59 » Sun Mar 29, 2015 7:18 am

I just installed a Vista 20P with a Honeywell 4229 expansion module. The 4229 is mounted inside my data box next to the Vista 20P board. The dip switches are configured for 300 ms response, Address 07, NO EOLR, Tamper disabled, (11110001).
I have a window and 1 PIR connected to the 4229 panel as zones 9,10. The PIR is powered off the 4229 panel (Red/Black lugs).
Shortly after boot up I get the following errors; check 09, (a perimeter zone), Check 10 (PIR Zone). The panel does not recognize whether or not the zones are violated, however the PIR has power and sees movement via the LED on the PIR.

I have worked this problem for hours going on days, during which time I swapped the 4229 panel to eliminate the possibility of a bad panel but the results were identical. I have exhaustively checked and rechecked dip switch and programming settings, even tried powering the 4229 with the 4 pin connector, and removing the PIR entirely with no success. I'm out of ideas so I hope someone has a good one. Thanks.

A couple thoughts:

Did you tell your panel in *79 that there is a 4229 attached?

Are the zones in *56 set up for type 2 aux wire?

Yes on *56. I saw nothing in the directions and setup about *79? That may be the issue. I set the dip switches on the 4229 to address 07. I thought the panel looked for a 4229 at that address? Do I need to enter that in the *79 section as well?

This does not seem to be a specific AD2* issue, if you would like help with panel programming, we do sell blocks of engineering time by the hour from our online shop. You can use this to get an engineer to walk you through these steps if required.

Thanks,
